Risk Factors for Tinea Pedis Infections (Athlete’s Foot) among Armed Forces

Skin problems are a universal problem in armies. High rates of skin diseases of the foot have been reported for other armies with combat units experiencing up to 75% loss of man-days.

Tinea pedis, known as Athlete’s foot, is a common fungal infection of the feet, the majority of cases caused by dermatophytes.

Athlete’s foot and fungal diseases are soldiers’ most common skin diseases. Moisture and heat conditions in the feet resulting from strenuous exercise cause the fungus, hence foul odor & bridged skin , to thrive. Humidity and elevated temperatures common in a soldier’s boot are a perfect environment for proliferation of fungi and bacteria, mal-odor, wound infection, and athlete’s foot. These conditions may significantly reduce the performance of soldiers.

A soldier’s feet endure high pressure and friction, which in many cases results in small cuts and wounds. In addition, the foot is an area that is exposed to significant dirt and, within the shoe, to high humidity and temperature. These factors taken together, increase the risk of minor wounds and cuts in the soldier’s feet becoming infected. Indeed, it is well known that soldiers suffer badly from infected wounds, which can eventually result in chronic wounds.

Turkish soldiers suffer from skin diseases, including 25% from athlete’s foot, and fungal infections are the most common skin diseases requiring medical therapy (51.5%)*.

ANTI-MICROBIAL AND SKIN ENHANCEMENT

Copper is an essential mineral in the human body that has been used for health and wellness for thousands of years. With its two distinct properties – broad-spectrum anti-microbial efficacy (proven against fungi, bacteria, and viruses) and skin enhancement (up-regulating collagen, elastin, and other proteins) – copper is an optimal element to improve a diabetic patient’s health and well being.

EXTRA PADDED BUT NOT EXTRA BIG

Eculage™ Military Copper Socks, based on Cupron scientifically proven patented technology, are extra padded in the toes and heels and the carefully contoured material maintains shoe size, which means they won’t take up too much space- simply order according to your shoe size

WHAT CUSTOMERS ARE SAYING

Combat Soldier

“I represent an operational combat unit that sometimes passes long days without being able to take the shoes off. We have been using the Cupron socks for two months now. Even after 3-4 days in a row when we cannot take our shoes off due to operational requirements there is no odor and the feet are in excellent shape, and most importantly several fighters who suffer from Athlete’s Foot reported a significant improvement in their condition”.

THE POWER OF COPPER

Don’t Risk Infection

Copper is an essential mineral in the human body that has been used for health and wellness for thousands of years. With its two distinct properties – broad-spectrum anti-microbial efficacy (proven against fungi, bacteria, and viruses) and skin enhancement (up-regulating collagen, elastin, and other proteins) – copper is an optimal element to protect the soldiers’ skin health.

The same conditions that nurture microbial growth are precisely those optimal for ionic copper release. These copper ions, contained in the Eculage™ Military Copper Socks, by Cupron®, made with yarn impregnated with copper oxide particles, act as a biocide that protects the feet from fungal and bacterial infections and cures athlete’s foot infections. In addition, the Eculage™ Military Copper Socks, via the copper ions, may protect the skin by increasing its stability and integrity, reducing irritation and secondary infection, and enhancing wound healing.

Reducing the Risk of Skin Pathologies

Reducing the Risk of Skin Pathologies

Reducing the risk of skin pathologies in diabetics by using copper impregnated socks: Diabetic individuals frequently suffer from skin pathologies, especially in their feet. Co-existing peripheral vascular disease and neuropathy exacerbate the capacity of these individuals to cope with infections, minor cuts, and wounds, often leading to hard-to-treat and chronic ulcers.
